Victoria Rowell Uses Titan Worldwide To Promote Book
Actress/Author Wraps New York City Double Decker Bus and Uses It As Mobile Forum for Foster Care Awareness Month
NEW YORK, May 5, 2008 – Emmy-nominated actress Victoria Rowell has turned to Titan Worldwide, the world’s largest privately held Out-of-Home advertising company, to promote the paperback release of her best-selling memoir “The Women Who Raised Me.”
The book follows Ms. Rowell’s journey through the foster care system and pays homage to the women in her life that she called “mother.” Her re-launch coincides with National Foster Care Awareness month (May) where she hopes that her book will shed light on the foster care system in the United States, where over half a million children are currently in foster care.
Ms. Rowell is using 75 bus kings in New York City starting on April 28. On May 8-9, Titan will wrap a double-decker Gray Line bus that Ms. Rowell will use as a mobile bookstore. On the bus will be social workers and members of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). The wrapped bus will travel around Manhattan and will make stops in key locations for people to meet Ms. Rowell and purchase her book – including a stop at New Alternatives for Children.
“We wanted to reach as many people as we could –and what better way than outfitting a New York City bus?” said Ms. Rowell. “Plus, the bus was so much a part of my childhood. As an eight-year-old child, I used the bus to take me from my home at the time in Maine to the Cambridge School of Ballet in Massachusetts. That bus took me out of foster care and let me pursue my dreams of becoming a dancer.”
This promotion marks the first time that a Titan bus has been wrapped as a traveling bookstore. Harlem-based bookseller Hue-Man will be working with Ms. Rowell in outfitting the bus as a mobile bookstore.
“We are honored that Ms. Rowell chose Titan media to help spread her good message,” said Donald Allman, president and CEO, Titan Worldwide. “This is something that she felt very passionately about and came to us with a very specific list of needs. We worked with her to create a customized program that we are confident will have the desired impact.”
