Titan Worldwide Wins San Francisco Bay Area’s BART Advertising Contract

Largest Privately Held Out-of-Home Company Expands National Footprint in Sixth Largest DMA Reaching Millions of Commuters Each Month

NEW YORK, March 19, 2008 – Titan Worldwide, the world’s largest privately held Out-of-Home advertising sales company, has won the contract to sell advertising for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART).

The 10-year contract takes effect on October 1, 2008 for the nation’s 5th largest all-rail public transit agency operating the 4th-longest rail system in the United States. BART’s 669-car fleet connects the San Francisco Peninsula with Oakland, Berkeley, Fremont, Walnut Creek, Dublin/Pleasanton and other cities in the East Bay.  Titan Worldwide succeeds CBS Outdoor, which held the previous contract since 1998.

BART services many high-end industries in the surrounding areas such as medical facilities, financial institutions, media and technology companies and educational institutions. BART currently carries about 104 million passengers each year – nearly twice the number of passengers as all three of the Bay Area’s major airports combined.

“We are pleased to award this contract to Titan Worldwide because the guaranteed revenue stream will help BART provide safe, reliable and affordable transportation to the more than 100 million people we carry every year,” BART Board President Gail Murray said. "We look forward to working with Titan to create tasteful advertising on the BART system and generate funds to support service to our customers.”

Founded in 2001 by Out-of-Home visionary and Chairman William Apfelbaum, and led by President and CEO Donald Allman, Titan Worldwide has grown into the leader in the transit industry (buses, subways, commuter and light rail) providing sales, marketing and maintenance of transit, billboard, wallscape, telephone kiosk, street banner, shopping mall, supermarket and trestle advertising.  In the United States alone, Titan Worldwide now operates in partnership with 13 major public transit authorities and has close to 450 employees.

“BART is one of the nation’s largest and most efficient rail systems making this a spectacular win for Titan. As we enter into the San Francisco market – the sixth largest DMA - our footprint is now extended into six of the top 10 markets,” said Mr. Allman.  “The Bay Area offers a broad range of first-rate industries in the surrounding area and we’re excited to extend Titan’s U.S. inventory to advertisers looking for exposure within the west coast.”

Titan proposes to enhance the overall infrastructure of the 43 stations served by BART as well as add new advertising products such as station bulletins with floor graphics, cross-track wallscapes, turnstile wrappers and a network of digital products. These additions to the media mix will generate new marketing opportunities for advertisers and produce incremental, untapped revenues for the BART system.

“Titan has consistently grown revenue in markets we take over. BART will be no different and we look forward to it being a jewel in our crown. This gives us more West Coast penetration and access to upscale consumers and businesses,” said Reid Schuster, President, Sales and Marketing, Titan Worldwide.  “Titan will be speaking to advertisers that are looking for fall campaigns in San Francisco and we’ll be setting up an office in early summer.”

Since June 2004, Titan Worldwide has been awarded 13 major-market public transit authority contracts in the United States, the largest Out-of-Home advertising contract in the Republic of Ireland as well as running all major rail contracts in the United Kingdom.

“Titan Worldwide has become the contractor-of-choice for transit authorities wishing to increase revenue associated with transit advertising properties,” continued Mr. Allman.  “We have delivered very significant increases in sales revenue in every market we have entered.”
